People and Defense National Conference 2024

This year's conference was characterized by increased clarity and coherence, with a focus on current security challenges and the importance of developing Sweden's modern total defense. In addition, Minister of Defense Pål Jonson and Minister of Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin presented several new initiatives.

Representatives from SME-d actively attended the conference, which enabled valuable dialogues with leading decision-makers. During these discussions, we emphasized the critical role of the SME sector in the defense sector, which has been particularly evident during the conflict in Ukraine. We also emphasized that the unique conditions of SME must be taken into account in the continued development of national defense.

We are convinced that Sweden possesses the necessary conditions to collectively build a security structure that we all deserve. However, this requires concrete actions from all actors.

The members of Folk & Försvar play a crucial role in contributing to a broad popular support for the defense through their members. As proud members, we in SME-D are convinced that our member companies also play a crucial role in strengthening Sweden's security and defense readiness. This needs to be given more attention in the public debate and is something we will continue to work to highlight.
