Seminar on Nordic defense cooperation

Nordefco was established in 2009 with the aim of improving the countries' defence capabilities and promoting a more efficient use of resources. The background to the increasing Nordic cooperation in Nordefco is the changing security situation. Peter Hultqvist spoke about the current state of cooperation and the plans to further strengthen the ability to act together. The Minister of Defence emphasised the importance of Sweden sticking to the security policy doctrine, but deepening cooperation between the Nordic countries. Ann-Sofie Dahl gave a historical look back at Nordic cooperation and the effect of not being a member of NATO. She believes that the disadvantage of being outside NATO is that security guarantees are lacking.
