Get to know our members – Xolaris

In this series we introduce our new members, where they talk about their activities and why they are members of SME-D. Now it's the turn of Xolaris. That's why we had a chat with CEO Mohsen Tavakol.

Xolaris develops software solutions for civil and military intelligence agencies, law enforcement agencies and civil defense organizations. The products and platforms – which can be customized to meet the specific needs of agencies – are used, among other things, for advanced intelligence and security analysis. They enable the transformation of large and complex structured and unstructured data sets into operational insights and decision-making support.

The company has also developed advanced systems that, within the framework of current legislation, enable real-time positioning of mobile devices and analysis of historical movement patterns in connection with criminal investigations, counterintelligence and other security-related applications.

Who do you work with?

Xolaris works with intelligence, security and defense agencies, as well as select technology partners internationally. Our operations are subject to strict confidentiality, as we work with sensitive information that requires high levels of integrity and security. Therefore, we cannot disclose specific customers or countries where our solutions are used.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has insight into the operations, as some of our products are classified as PDA products and are therefore subject to special export controls.

How do you work, if at all, with conscripts, wartime deployments and veterans?

Xolaris does not work operationally with conscripts or war deployments, and these issues are therefore not directly relevant to our business. However, we value the expertise that people with a background in defense, police, intelligence or other security-related activities can contribute. We especially welcome veterans and others with such experience as employees, as their understanding of operational needs and government environments is very valuable in our development. The combination of these experiences together with technical expertise in IT, AI and advanced data analysis is particularly meritorious, as it strengthens our ability to build high-quality solutions for intelligence and security applications.

What professional roles are available at your company?

Our roles are typical of advanced software and IT/telecom companies and include Solutions Architect, System Architect, Data Scientist, Software Developer, UX/UI Developer, Product Manager, Project Manager, Business Developer and Account Manager.

Why are you a member of SME-D and what do you want to get out of membership?

We joined SME-D to become an active part of the ecosystem around the Swedish defense and security industry. Through membership, we want to contribute our expertise, while building stronger relationships with authorities, companies and other players in the industry. Xolaris is also a member of SOFF (Swedish Defense and Security Companies).
